Entertainment insiders often remark that comedies are harder to make compared to other genres, and rightfully so. Not all comedies succeed at being genuinely funny. The Beverly Hillbillies was one truly hilarious series and the genuine camaraderie of the cast was palpable on-screen.
Irene Ryan, the actress who played Granny Clampett, was often shown slapping Jethro to knock some sense into him. Irene did reveal in many interviews that those slaps were real, not fake. Good thing she had smaller hands, but we’re guessing the slaps still stung even just a bit.
