How the Twin Day Festival Came to Be
The first Twins Day festival was held in August 1976 when 37 pairs of twins gathered together to celebrate their uniqueness. Interestingly, what was meant to be a one-time event soon became an annual celebration drawing hundreds of duos from all across the globe.
In the beginning, the organizers couldn’t decide whether or not the festival should be a local affair or one open to individuals from other locales. But in 1979, when the festival got its first share of international twins, one pair of twins from Lebanon and another from Poland, it became clear they couldn’t keep anyone out.
