In movies, serial killers always act as if they like to give the main characters a chance before assassinating them. But is this even believable?
In the real world, serial killers are obsessive people who often spend hours planning and executing their murders. Also, they get better and better as their list of crimes piles up. But in the world of cinema, serial-killing is a way more nuanced art. It mainly involves a lot of staring, lots of scares, and lots of suspense. Killing someone without even giving him/her a chance is not how serial killers in films enjoy doing their business.
A serial killer revealing themselves before all the killing is a great way to add excitement to any horror flick. But for the killer, doesn’t it seem like the dumbest thing he could do? Well, maybe they like the chase better than the catch.
