Blue-And-Red Erasers Weren’t Understood

We won’t blame people who thought dual-colored erasers were for kids only because of their fun hue combination. However, both sides have different purposes: the blue one is rougher and used for dark marks or pencil doodles on heavy paper grades. The pink or orange side is meant for lighter writing and smooth paper.

Other stationery companies, such as Faber Castell, marketed the blue side as double-colored erasers. According to HistoryOfPencils, the more affordable ones are made from synthetic rubber or soy-based gum.
