You Probably See These Things Every Day But Have No Idea Of Their Purpose

A ‘Groovy’ Reason For Cups

Coffee and tea enthusiasts may be more concerned about the quality of the beverage than the actual cup, but observant people may have seen this tiny chip at the base of their mugs. Some of them were probably concerned about buying a damaged item.

However, this tiny groove is intentionally made. Specifically, the chip is made for dishwashing purposes because when placed upside down, the semi-hollow bottom of the cup will hold water. To avoid this, the small indention allows the water to flow and prevents spilling when taken out of the machine.
