You Probably See These Things Every Day But Have No Idea Of Their Purpose
Dotted Windshields Literally Act As Shields
Ever wondered why there are tiny black dots in windshields and car windows? While many people are not huge fans of this design, it deals with functionality rather than aesthetics. According to Travel and Leisure, these, along with the black band, are called frits, meant to hold the glass in place while the vehicle is moving.
This started in the ’50s, which explains why older automotive models still have this feature. On top of this, the dots’ position is well thought of because they are placed in a halftone pattern meant to show gradience.
