It’s not unusual for a sitcom like ‘My Three Sons’ to have a spin-off. After all, the audiences’ liking for the series had kept it on-air for twelve years! The episode ‘After the Honeymoon’ left us wondering about Robbie, who lost his job and shifted to San Francisco with his family. So, in the 11th season, the network planned to release a spin-off focusing solely on Robbie’s family life.
Yet, the sequel never came to be, and Don Grady was greatly relieved by the decision. Perhaps, he was tired of playing his character for the prolonged twelve seasons. Once Robbie was shown to leave for Peru, the actor-singer too left the show and pursued his career in music.
