Self-service tills save both grocery customers and employees a lot of time, but that doesn’t mean they’re foolproof technology. These devices do malfunction from time to time. Too bad for the employee in this story. She chanced upon a mansplaining customer during one such instance.
Offering to help her fix the till he suggested a “man’s touch” might do the trick. Spoiler alert: it still didn’t make things work. It just goes to show you that five years of working the tills does make the employee more qualified to troubleshoot the device compared to a regular customer.
