While many stars came out of the closet before entering show business or while they were young, comedian Wanda Sykes was 44 when she revealed the truth in 2008 while at a rally in Las Vegas.
While her inner circle knew that she was gay and that she got married to her girlfriend Alex, Sykes needed to speak up at the time due to Proposition 8. She came out to her parents when she was 40. According to OprahDaily, the comedian’s revelation wasn’t planned at all.
