Box Office Bombs That Drove Studios Out of Business

Looney Tunes: Back in Action, 2003

‘Looney Tunes’ has become a well-loved cartoon franchise since its inception in the 1930s. As an attempt to introduce this old favorite to the younger generation, Warner Bros. Feature Animation released a movie featuring the characters in 2003.

Many expected it would do well on the big screen, considering it starred Brendan Fraser, who was at the height of his career then. Despite having a massive budget of $80 million, the movie failed to make an impression in the box office. The revenue only amounted to a meager $68 million. Warner Bros. was disappointed with the results and ended up shutting down their animation company.

If fans wants to enjoy their favorite ‘Looney Tunes,’ they can catch a glimpse through old cable reruns and online streaming services. But without Warner Bros., it’s highly unlikely we will ever get to see them in the cinemas again.
