Sean Payton was Suspended for Targeted Tackling

Sean Payton was the New Orleans Saints head coach from 2006 to 2021. He led the team to its first triumph at the Super Bowl in 2009. Before his coaching career, he played as a quarterback for Eastern Illinois University.

Payton faced suspension from the National Football League over a controversy that later became known as Bountygate. He was accused of paying bonuses to his players for targeted tackling of players from opposite teams and subsequently suspended for a whole season. The Saints were also asked to pay $500K.
