Art Schlichter Suspended and Arrested for Betting Habits

Arthur Schlichter plied his trade as a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League from 1982 to 1985. Despite being a player of a high caliber, his career was tainted because of his habit of betting.

In the early 1980s, when he was with the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, authorities found out that Schlichter was paying a visit to a nearby horse track frequently. He owed over $400,000 in betting debts during his years as a rookie. This led to his suspension from the team and arrest.
