Lawrence Phillips Was Suspended for Six Games over Misconduct with his Former Girlfriend
Lawrence Phillips was one of the most prolific running backs in the college football circuit. He was an absolute beast on the pitch. Playing for the Cornhuskers, the football team representing the University of Nebraska, he won the Orange Bowl in 1995 and the Fiesta Bowl in 1996.
After registering a thumping victory against the Michigan State Spartans in 1995, Phillips reportedly assaulted his former girlfriend physically. He was suspended from the Cornhuskers team for only six games. Many raised questions about the management’s decision not to suspend him.
