Charley Pell Fired for Spying

Charley Pell played college football for his alma mater, the University of Alabama, and later became the head coach of the Clemson Tigers and the Florida Gators. Though he had several achievements under his belt, his career was tainted for violating the NCAA rules.

On September 16, 1984, the NCAAs announced that the Gators had registered 107 infractions, which included spying on the opponents’ practices and giving out cash and loans to other athletes. Consequently, Pell was fired from his job.
