Pat Dye Was Forced to Resign over a Pay-for-Play Scandal

Pat Dye coached many teams at tertiary levels during his coaching career. However, he is probably best remembered for his days at Auburn University. The College Football Hall of Famer has a stadium at Auburn named in his honor. He passed away in 2020.

He was cornered when the news of an Auburn booster named Corky Frost paying cash to a defensive-back recruit, Eric Ramsey, surfaced in 1991-92. Ramsey also accused Auburn assistant Larry Blakeney of paying him $500. Consequently, Dye resigned from his job as head coach.
