University of Southern Mississippi Players Shot at a Nightclub
The University of Southern Mississippi football team participates in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. In 2010, three players from the team, namely Martez Smith, Tim Green, and Deddrick Jones were admitted to a local hospital after they were shot outside Remington Hunt Club.
The incident took place just hours after the Golden Eagles registered a 31-21 win over Central Florida. A fight ensued inside the club and as it spilled outside, the three were shot. Smith went paralyzed below the waist and Green cannot speak.
